Quins demolish Stars in nine try drubbing

Leaders Maesteg Quins remain unbeaten in Division Three South West, and showed their impressive form by outgunning Aberavon Green Stars 59-3 at Little Warren.

Quins wrapped up the bonus point before the interval with four tries courtesy of prop Kevin Quigley, full back Geraint Evans and a brace from scrum half Lee Ronan. Two conversions by outside half Gareth Lewis gave them a 3-24 interval lead, after the Green Stars' outside half Chris Murphy provided their only points with a penalty.

The visitors had another five touchdowns in the second half with Ronan completing his hat-trick, followed by lock Ryan Lovett and winger Nathan Morgan. The visitors were also awarded two penalty tries with Lewis adding the extras.

The victory sees them head the table by eight points with a game in hand over their nearest rivals Taibach.

Meanwhile, Pencoed notched up their fifth victory with a 27-17 home success over Vardre at the Verlands.
The hosts bagged a try bonus point thanks to an Aaron Halse brace, with Glen Hiscocks and Paul McFarlane also touching down. Marc Davies landed two conversions and a penalty for the hosts.
Vardre narrowly missed out on bagging a losing bonus point as they slipped to their sixth consecutive league loss. Matthew Jospeh touched down for their only try of the match while Josh Humphries was on target with four penalties.
Elsewhere, there were bonus point victories for Taibach, who convincing defeated Bryncoch 32-17, and Ystalyfera, who triumphed at Mumbles 24-17.
In the day's other match, Morriston picked up their second win with a great performance to defeat Brynamman 27-17.
