Late Petrie strike rounds off Gap victory

Gap Connahs Quay took advantage of Rhyl’s postponed game against Penycae to open up a four-point gap at the top of the Huws Gray Alliance.
The league leaders eased to a 3-0 win at Llangefni Town thanks to a Lee Hughes own goal, a Craig Jones’ strike and Jamie Petrie’s late effort.
Andrew Starbrick scored the winner for Cefn Druids as they came from a goal down to see off the challenge of Porthmadog. Druids now sit fifth in the table with only goal difference separating them and Saturday’s opponents.
A Chris Riley goal seven minutes before the interval was enough for Flint Town United to claim the win at Caersws while a second-half Jack Crompton strike gave Ruthin Town all three points at Llanrhaeadr.
Conwy United won by the odd goal in three at home to Guilsfield, John Owen firing home both their goals and following a goalless first-half on Friday night, Buckley Town won 3-1 at Llandudno Town to go level on points with Rhyl.
Mike Burke and Matty Hughes put the visitors into a comfortable position and even though the hosts pulled one back through Lee Thomas, Neil Wynne sealed the triumph.
Saturday’s remaining match between bottom side Rhos Aelwyd and Penrhyncoch was another to fall foul of the weather.
