Ystrad Rhonnda will be determined to return to winning ways in Division Two East this weekend when the leaders host Tylorstown in a local derby at the Gelligalad.
The pacemakers suffered only their second loss of the season in their defeat to title rivals Penallta, but remain five points clear of the chasing pack in pole position, and will be keen to keep their cushion intact. Tylorstown, although struggling towards the wrong end of the table, will be buoyed by their home win over highflying Rhydyfelin.
Penallta meanwhile will look to keep up the pressure on the trailblazers when they travel to Fleur de Lys. The Pitmen, who have been in great form, will know any slip up could undo their great work last weekend as they remain in the hunt for the title.
Highfliers Heol y Cyw will also feel they are still in with a shout at pinching the Championship, and the Cockerels will want to pick up a big victory when they travel to basement boys Rhymney on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Rhydyfelin who sit fourth, will aim to bounce back from last week’s defeat, but face another tough test when they entertain an in form Llantwit Fadre side.
Elsewhere, Ynysybwl, whose form has slipped since Christmas, will know they need to start winning to avoid falling out of contention to claim promotion and will be hoping to bag their first win of the New Year when they welcome Llantrisant to the Recreation Ground.
In the day's other fixture, strugglers Abercynon make the short trip to Bedlinog in search of their fifth victory.
