Glamorgan Wanderers will be keen to start off 2012 the way they finished 2011, after producing a good performance to defeat Division One East title hopefuls Newbridge before the Christmas break.
“The long lay-off between games wasn’t what we wanted after we hit a bit of form, but the squad has trained well and nearly everyone is fully fit and raring to take on the New Year challenges” commented head coach Chris Ower.
“Blackwood will be tough to beat on their own patch but we are confident that we can put in another performance following the win over Newbridge” added manager Gavin Walker.
For the trip to Blackwood, the Wanderers stick with the majority of the side that ran out winners over Newbridge. The backs remain the same with Owen Marshall continuing on the wing and Mike Stephens starting at fullback. Rhys Griffiths starts again at scrum half.
There are two changes in the pack: Mike Catris returns at hooker after an injury lay-off and Alex Luff returns to the boiler house after being injured in the win over Tredegar. On the bench, Haval Ibrahim takes his place after he also recovered from a pre-Christmas injury.
