Llanishen leapt to the top of Division Three South East with a 33-22 home success over Aberdare in a highly entertaining encounter at Usk Road.
The highfliers helped themselves to five tries including a hat trick from centre Nigel Gumbleton, with prop Sion Dunne and Phil Thomas also going over. Thomas also added four conversions.
In a mid-table battle, Brecon bagged their seventh victory, defeating Tonyrefail 25-0 thanks to touchdowns from Daniel Edwards, Eifion Jones and Matthew Watkins, while Gary Davies stroked home two penalties and two conversions.
Meanwhile, strugglers Pentyrch picked up a surprise 15-10 home win over title hopefuls St Peters.
Tyrch outscored their opponents two tries to one thanks to toudchdowns from Morgan Thomas and stand-in captain Tom Marley, while Howell Chatham added a conversion and a penalty to seal the win.
Elsewhere, Fairwater moved up to fourth with a hard fought 23-18 success at Gwernyfed.
The visitors crossed three times through Anton Phillips, Tom Foley and Rich Theaker, while Michael Foley (Tom’s younger brother) fired home two penalties and a conversion.
Finally, the match between Rhiwbina and Nelson was abandoned at half time. With Nelson leading 5-3, the referee was taken ill at the break, although he did manage to dish out two red cards and three yellows before taking his leave.
