Caernarfon too strong for strugglers

Pacemakers Caernarfon increased their advantage at the summit of Division One North with an impressive 49-7 win at Llangefni.
The leaders dominated proceedings and were rewarded with seven tries, including a hat trick for centre Dafydd Roberts and a brace from openside Llywarch Davies, with wing Gwylim Jones and Iolo Hughes also crossing. Kelvin Morris had a fine day with the boot, adding all seven conversions.
Second placed Nant Conwy slipped seven points behind the leaders after suffering their second defeat in as many weeks, going down 15-13 at home against Bro Ffestiniog.
Bro outscored their rivals two tries to one thanks to touchdowns from Stephen Price and Ian Ellis, while Barry Roberts landed a penalty and a conversion.
Nant meanwhile will feel they should have secured victory having taken a 10-3 lead into the break thanks to an Eryl Jones try, with Carwyn ap Myrddin adding the extras and a penalty, but the hosts could only manage another Myrddin penalty after the break.
At the other end of the table, Mold defeated Ruthin 20-15 in a local derby at Chester Road.
The hosts crossed twice through Vincent Hughes and Scott Ferguson, while Steve Quinton added the extras to both and stroked home two crucial penalties.
Meanwhile, Bethesda heaped more woe on basement boys Llandudno, beating the strugglers 25-15.
Elsewhere, Bala did just enough to defeat Pwllheli, narrowly running out 11-10 victors.
