Welsh Premier League outfit Neath have announced the shock departure of coaching duo Terry Boyle and Peter Nicholas, with ex-Swansea City man Kristian O’Leary now in charge at the helm as a caretaker boss.
Boyle and Nicholas, who are both ex Welsh Internationals, have had a short tenure at the Gnoll, only taking over the reins from Andrew Dyer in the summer despite him leading Neath to an historic place in Europe.
The big spenders have added high profile signings to the squad in recent times with Lee Trundle, O’leary and ex-Wales under-21 play maker Matty Collins all joining the South Wales side.
The Eagles have dismissed rumours the departure of the duo have anything to do with financial problems related to Chairman Geraint Hawke’s import business going into administration and instead look to the team’s performance on the field.
“Despite making the transition to full time, the board felt that results and performances this season were not reflective of this and it was in the club's best interest to find a new manager to take the club forward,” stated the Neath FC website. “On another note and contrary to rumours that are currently circulating, the club can confirm that all players have been paid up to date,” added the club’s statement.
Neath, who currently sit fourth in the league seven points off pacemakers The New Saints, will host struggling Newtown on Sunday.
