Llangennech swooped back to the summit of Division One West with a comfortable 39-16 home triumph over Whitland in a top of the table clash at the Park Rugby Ground.

The hosts helped themselves to five tries through a Nick Davies brace, with Rhys Davies, Craig Kelly and Matthew Bowen also crossing the whitewash. Gareth Walters fired home two penalties with Rhodri Jones adding another, while Aled Roberts slotted a conversion and a penalty.

The Borderers meanwhile were held to three first half Scott Newton penalties and a Lee Granville touchdown after the interval, with Newton adding the extras.

Ammanford bagged back to back wins with a try bonus 37-21 home victory over Bonymaen.

The hosts ran in four tries, wing Tom Rees crossed twice with prop Dylan Cooper and back row Chris Jones also touching down. The young outside half Carwyn Richards was also in fine form, landing three penalties and converting all four tries.

Bony, however, continue to struggle and were unable to build on their impressive win last week as they were held to Neil Wilcox and Danny Jones touchdowns, with Richard Cunniffe firing home three penalties and a conversion.

New boys Tondu overcame local rivals Bridgend Athletic 26-14 at Pandy Park to move off the foot of the table.

The Waterwheelers crossed for three tries through Steven Bevan, Joe Healey and Mark Roberts, while Dean Thomas slotted a conversion and fired home three penalties.

Athletic’s disappointing season continues as they were restricted to an Aled Thomas brace of tries, with Stewart Morris adding the extras to both.

Meanwhile, Tata Steel narrowly came out on top 35-31 in a rip roaring encounter against Waunralwydd in Margam.

The Steelmen ran in four tries thanks to a Robbie Morgan brace, with Tylan Mafi and Wayne Skedmore also going over. Diggy Bird had an outstanding day with the boot, notching up 15 points through three penalties and three conversions.

The Green and Blacks looked to be down and out at the interval, trailing 21-3, but came back to bag try and losing bonus points courtesy of second half touchdowns from captain Nathan Hart, Andrew Rees Spowart, Alan Pope and Dan Moyle. Jonny Davies added the extras to all four tries with the fly half also slotting a first half penalty.

Elsewhere, pre-season favourites Narberth ominously moved up to second position with a 27-17 victory over Llanharan.

The Otters’ back line were in clinical form, cutting the Llanharan defence with ease, wing Tom Bonnell crossed twice for a double with full back Jonathan Morgan and lock Alex Jenkins also touching down. Adam Phillips converted one and landed a penalty with Nick Jones also slotting a conversion.

Llanharan could only manage two tries through centre David Atkins and outside half Cody Rees while Chris Williams converted both and landed a penalty.

Finally, Carmarthen Athletic picked up their sixth win with a 26-20 home success over UWIC at Johnstown.

Athletic helped themselves to a try bonus thanks to a Viv Jenkins brace, with Pan Rashesa and Stuart Morris also crossing the whitewash, the latter also adding three conversions.

The students in response will have to be satisfied with a losing bonus point thanks to touchdowns from Dan Bibby and Joe Tomlinson, while Rhydian Morris fired home a penalty and a conversion, as did Rhys Roberts.
