Maesteg show a lot of heart despite defeat

William 'jock' Russel puts the Maes defence to the test

There was one fixture in Division Two West as Kidwelly comfortably dispatched struggling Maesteg 43-10 at Parc Stephens.

The match was played in good spirit with both teams running the ball at every opportunity, but the Black and Ambers were the better side on the day, helping themselves to seven tries including a brace for centre Andy Francis with back row Chris Eldred, outside half Gareth Rees, second row Chris Moore, prop Berian Watkins and centre Aaron Warren also going over. Rees also slotted home four conversions.

The Llynfi Valley side however should take a lot of heart out of the match, showing some heroic defence to deny Kidwelly what seemed like certain scores, and the visitors were rewarded for their effort with a last minute try from scrum half Jordan Isaac, much to the delight of the travelling supporters.
