Swansea Edge Through

SECOND-HALF goals from Lindsey Morgan and Chloe O’Connor saved Swansea
City’s blushes as the FAW Women’s Cup holders inched through to the
third round of this season’s competition.

They trailed 1-0 to South Wales Women’s League outfit Valleys United at
half-time and were in danger of losing their grip on the cup before
Morgan and O’Connor got them out of trouble after the interval.

Ian Owen’s side could have put more daylight between themselves and the
hosts had Wales under-19 international Jodie Passmore not missed from
the penalty spot.

Swansea go into the hat for the next round along with Cardiff City, 5-0
winners over Cyncoed, Caerphilly Castle, 2-0 victors at Cascade Youth,
and UWIC, who beat Cardiff University 4-2 in a thrilling varsity derby
clash.

In the northern half of the draw, Wrexham and Llandudno Junction are
definitely through following 2-1 and 4-2 triumphs at Llanidloes Town
and Northop Hall respectively.

Two second-round ties are still to be decided after the games between
Trefelin and Bridgend Town in the south and Caernarfon Town and
Tregaron in the north were postponed. The former has been rearranged
for November 2 at Goytre United.
