Colwyn Bay celebrated their first victory under the direction of new player manager, Jon Newby, coming from behind against the high-flying Lincolnshire visitors Gainsborough to bag a 2-1 victory at Llanelian Road.
The Seagulls fell behind in the fifth minute after Matty Hughes was dispossessed by Lewis McMahon, who set up Leon Mettam to rifle the visitors into the lead with a clinical finish. With the visitors sensing blood, they poured forward and only some top class goal keeping by Chris Sanna kept the deficit to a solitary goal as the players headed down the tunnel.
Newby’s men struck early after the break when a diving header from Lee McEvilly met a great cross from Danny Lloyd to draw the Welshmen level. It was the hosts' turn to attack with the Gainsborough goal coming under increasing pressure and the winner coming on 72 minutes as Mike Lea’s cross picked out Karl Noon, who volleyed in from six yards.
The win sees the Seagulls move within two points of the top five play off places, but they face a tough test next Saturday however, when they travel to league leaders Hyde.
