Fighting talk from Mold ahead of Nant visit

Mold captain Steve Quinton has declared his team ready to take on Nant Conwy this weekend, while saying that past pain has made for some focused troops ahead of their date with the Division One North leaders.

Quinton admitted that failed campaigns in the last couple of outings have strengthened the resolve of those who had to experience those painful memories.

"A lot of players have been through one, if not two, experiences that have not been too palatable," Quinton said. “Form and pedigree in the past didn't help us win games - success had to be earned. This season is no different”.

"To win it you have got to be the best team on that field regardless of what has happened beforehand and you have to produce the goods when it counts,' Quinton said. "A lot of the guys that have been around a while will understand that. The younger ones are now starting to realise that the hard way. There are absolutely no guarantees".
The Mold Head Coach Les Byrne admits his side were simply outclassed by a superior Bethesda side on the day but the coming encounter with Nant is a completely different affair. “We have home advantage and we have a number of returning players who have the ability to make things gel, just what the doctor and our physio ordered.”

"Our aerial work in particular was not very good last week but we have worked on that. We have changed our approach and we will now be able to generate enough momentum and create a bit of much needed fluency in our game".

“We have already played Nant and have seen their many weaknesses” Byrne added. “Last time we were a bit naïve but that has now gone, despite recent losses. We have a new steely determination and that will certainly show on Saturday.”
