Whitland swept to the top of Division One West thanks to a try bonus high class 46-14 demolition of Waunarlwydd at Parc Llwyntygwyn.
The Borderers helped themselves to seven tries including a hat trick for flanker Ryan Michael with Nico Setaro, Rhys Jones, Gary Evans and Fraser Watson also crossing the whitewash. Setaro slotted three penalties and a conversion to complete the rout.
The Green and Blacks, who have faltered of late after their blistering start, could only manage an Alan Pope first half touchdown, converted by Lee Evans. They were also awarded a penalty try in the second, with Hosh Hammett adding the extras.
Bridgend Athletic notched up their third victory running out 27-10 winners over last week’s leaders Carmarthen Athletic at Newbridge fields.
The hosts picked up a valuable try bonus courtesy of a Rhys Ward Jones brace with Tom Cole and Stuart Nation also breaking the visitor’s resistance. Cole added one conversion with the boot of Corey Butler landing another and a penalty.
Carmarthen, meanwhile who headed the table last weekend were restricted to a solitary touchdown from Matthew James with Scott Maynard adding the extras and Scott Maynard landed a penalty.
Tata Steel got their season back on course with a 25-16 victory at Ammanford.
The Steelmen outscored the new boys three tries to one thanks to a penalty try and Anthony Rogers and Robbie Morgan crossing the whitewash. Young Ospreys outside half Pete Smith put in another assured performance, slotting two penalties and two conversions.
The hosts were restricted to an Ashley Evans touchdown with Tom Marks kicking the rest of their points through a conversion and three penalties.
Meanwhile, UWIC leapt to second in the table thanks to a 39-22 home success over Llanharan.
The students, who have recovered from their slow start, produced a fine display of running rugby. They notched up five first half tries through a brace by full back Dan Bibby with wing Owen Jenkins, scrumhalf Rhodri Davies and Connor Truman also going over. Rhydian Morris slotted four conversions and added two penalties to complete the win.
The Dairymen who are propping up the bottom of the table did manage to pick up a try bonus point thanks to hooker Nathan Hughes bulldozing his way to a brace, with wing Steffan Jones and prop James Greenfield also touching down. Chris Williams converted one meanwhile.
Llangennech notched up a 30-18 home win over Narberth at the Park Rugby Ground.
The hosts ran in three tries through flanker’s Bewdwy Davies and Chris Stickler with late replacement scrum half Luke Marsh scoring in the last minute. Ricky Williams produced a fine kicking display to rack up 15 points, landing all conversions and also slotting three penalties.
The Otters who have had a disappointing season by their standards so far, could only manage two second half tries both from speedster Tom Burnell with Adam Phillips adding a conversion and penalty, while Rhys Davies also landed a penalty.
Elsewhere, new boys Tondu look to have recovered from their shaky start, recording their second win with a try bonus 32-13 victory at Bonymaen.
The Waterwheelers helped themselves to four tries through Paul Smithson, Dean Thomas, Robert Smithson and Matthew Davies. Thomas capped a fine individual performance kicking two penalties and three conversions.
Bony’s stuttering season continued as they could only manage a Nick Clancy try, with Stuart Thorne adding a conversion and two penalties.
