The Pitmen pounce to pick up fourth win

Penallta wing Aron Humphries diving across the whitewash in their 27-13 victory over Rhymney.

Penallta bounced back from last week’s narrow defeat to notch up their fourth victory in Division Two East with a 27-13 home triumph over Rhymney.
The Pitmen also bagged a try bonus thanks to tries through speedster Aron Humphries, second row Rhys Clarke, prop Dale Roberts and scrumhalf Chris Thomas. Andre Soroco added two conversions and a penalty.
Trailblazers Ystrad Rhondda continued their quest to regain their place in Division One with a seven try home demolition of struggling Llantwit Fadre.
Ystrad’s wing Adam Lewis helped himself to a hat trick, while Andrew Hutchins bagged a brace, with Dan John and Masin Al Azzawi also scoring a try apiece. Rhys Truelove landed three conversions.
Fadre, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table, could only manage two tries in reply through Kyle Baker and Lewis James. Mike Walsh slotted both conversions and two penalties.
Meanwhile, highfliers Ynysybwl ground out a 13-9 win at struggling Fleur de Lys. Bwl crossed for two tries through Ricky Thomas and centre Sean Ireland, with Greg Rees adding one penalty.
In a low-scoring encounter, Heol y Cyw edged to a 7-5 triumph over Rhydyfelin. The match also saw the return to action of former Welsh International Allan Bateman.
Abercynon picked up their third win with a 21-10 home success over Tylorstown at Y Parc.
The hosts helped themselves to three tries through Ryan James, Gareth Ingram and outside half Matthew Turner, with the latter also landing all three conversions.
The Tigers meanwhile could only manage a Justin Llewellyn touchdown with centre Julian Pike adding a conversion and a penalty.
Elsewhere, Llantrisant notched up a hard-fought 14-6 home win over Bedlinog.
