Glynneath maintain perfect start

Leaders Glynneath maintained their blistering start to Division Two West with a comfortable 21-5 victory at Builth Wells.

The new boys crossed for two tries through flanker James Parry and Tom Venn. Outside half Jack O’Reily slotted three penalties and a conversion.

Builth in reply were restricted to a solitary try from scrum-half Sam Gillain.

Kenfig Hill kept up the pressure on trailblazers Glynneath thanks to a 27-10 victory at Felinfoel.

The Mules outscored their rivals three tries to one, with Thomas Maund, Matthew Tossell and Nicky Morgan crossing the whitewash. Rhodri Clarke landed two penalties and three conversions.

The Llanelli outfit, relegated last season, could only manage a Carl Edds touchdown with Sean Lee adding a conversion and penalty.

Aberystwyth heaped more woe on freefalling Maesteg, picking up their first victory in a 68-0 drubbing of the Llynfi Valley side at Llynfi Road.

The visitors helped themselves to ten tries including braces from Rhys Richards and Richard Reed, as well as scores from Jason Rees, Ifan Beynon Thomas, Llwyarch ap Myrddin, Sion Summers, Rhys Morgan and Llyr Morris. Rees also knocked over nine conversions in the one-sided affair.

In a tightly contested game dominated by the boot, Aberavon Quins came out on top 15-9 against Loughor.

Quins’ Marc Sheppard notched up all his side’s points through five penalties, while the visitors were restricted to three penalties from Andrew Williams.

Meanwhile, Cwmllynfell did just enough to notch up their fifth win, narrowly defeating Skewen 15-12.

Cwm scored two tries through full-back Anthony Rees and Owen James, while Craig Jones converted one and also slotted a penalty.

Elsewhere, new boys Crymych are still desperately searching for their maiden victory after going down 19-10 at home against Kidwelly.

Kidwelly ran in three tries with Aron Walters, Dafydd Lewis and Andy Francis all crossing the whitewash.
