Rowlands brace proves heavenly for Saints

In the battle at the top of Division Three East, newly promoted Senghenydd came out on top 24-17 over title rivals Pill Harriers at the Welfare Ground.
The Saints bagged three tries through Dewi Smith and a Lloyd Rowlands brace, while Alan Ford landed all three conversions and a penalty.
Pill, who were unbeaten up until now, picked up a losing bonus point thanks to a Rhys Tuck touchdown, with wing Duane Bailey also going over. Rhys Yendle landed a drop goal and Bailey converted both tries, meanwhile.
Freefalling Caerphilly continue to have a torrid time, with Garndiffaith being the team to dish out the punishment this week in a 48-5 eight try romp at Lasgarn View.
Garn’s scores came courtesy of Sam Evans, Geraint Jones, Shaun Courtney, and Gareth Lear, with Sam Evans and speedster Nicky Simon both bagging a double. Darren Pearce added four conversions.
The Cheesemen’s only points came from a Simon Church touchdown.
Meanwhile, Abertillery B.G leapfrogged Newport HSOB with a narrow 15-12 home victory over their rivals. The hosts outscored the Old Boys two tries to one to secure fourth position in the table.
Elsewhere, Brynmawr registered their third win with a 37-0 triumph at Croesyceiliog and Abergavenny edged out Risca 20-18. The other scheduled fixture between Pontypool United and Tredegar Ironsides was postponed.
