Wrexham’s Williams hit a round of 70, her best yet at the
event, as Wales find themselves joint second with Germany, six strokes behind
leaders Spain, with one day’s play remaining. England are in fourth, nine shots
behind the Welsh and Germans.
Williams, Wales’ No2 and Europe’s No16-ranked golfer, has
been in steady form all week and is the only one of Wales’ three stars to make
the team score card every day. She finds herself second in the singles
leaderboard on 218, four shots behind Spanish leader Patricia Sanz Bario, three
ahead of European No5 Nicole Broch Larsen (Denmark) in third, and six ahead of
England’s European No1 Georgia Hall in fifth.
Conwy’s Boulden was the other golfer to get on the card with
a round of 77, which leaves her 14th in the leaderboard on 230.
Harries, of Haverfordwest, is a shot behind her on 231 after hitting a third
round 78.
They will now be gunning for glory on day four and will be
hoping for a slip up from the hosts to steal the title from their grasp.
The men’s team find themselves ninth after day three with a
gross of 671, trailing leaders France by 25 strokes.
Individually, Jason Shufflebotham (Prestatyn) is joint fourth
on the leaderboard with a gross of 217, trailing leader Adrien Saddier, the
European No8, by eight strokes after a third round 70 (two under par).
Trevose’s Ben Westgate is the next Welshman on the board,
tied for 44th with two other golfers after his third round 74 left
him on 228.
Oswestry’s Will Jones is tied for 52nd on 230,
while Jonathan Bale (Royal Porthcawl) finds himself 69th on 241.
England are currently second in the men’s event, two shots
behind the French on 648, while Toby Tree is third on the singles leaderboard,
one shot better off than Shufflebotham.
Ireland are sixth on 659, while Scotland are in 12th
place on 675.
