Airbus re-sign Maloney after American stint

Airbus UK have re-signed free agent Ryan Maloney after his successful stint in the United Soccer Leagues, the club have announced.

The former Bury and Bolton Wanderers youth player (26) first had a spell with the club at the age of 17, making 20 appearances in the Welsh Premier League.

Initially joining Embry Riddle in the States, he notched 39 goals in 37 games over two seasons and was voted the Florida Sun Conference player of the year for the 2009/10 season.

This led to moves to the Atlanta Blackhawks, Orlando City and the now defunct Jacksonville Destroyers in various league systems, accumulating a total of 22 goals in 37 goals for the three sides.

Once his visa had expired, Maloney returned to the UK and has been training with the Wingmakers recently.

Boss Andy Preece has also made the decision to recall Mike Hayes from his loan spell at Connah’s Quay.

The 25-year-old scored four times in The Nomads’ 6-3 win at Bala Town last month, and now returns to his parent club, where he has scored 17 goals in 42 appearances in the WPL.
