Wales take on Scotland, Ireland and Holland from March
25-28, with the brothers leading a team of eight against their European
counterparts.
At the same time, a Welsh squad travel to Rosslare to take
on Ireland in an under-18s fixture, with Cradoc's Charlie Spencer-White, who is
flying back specially from his home in America to take part in the match and
build on his win in the IJGT Major Championship at Hampton Hall in Bluffton,
South Carolina last November.
“These are the first teams picked under the new Golf Union
of Wales selection policy, which hopefully is clearer for everyone to follow,”
explained Ben Waterhouse, director of performance. “As the season goes on, then
selection will be based on more evidence.
“The aim is to make the system as transparent and consistent
as possible for the benefit of those included in the teams and – perhaps more
importantly – for those who have been left out to see what they need to do to
be selected next time.
“We are particularly looking forward to hosting the
quadrangular event at Southerndown, and hope the team can make the most of home
advantage. They have recently played on the course to try and make the most of
the opportunity against three strong teams.
“The challenge of Ireland and Scotland will be familiar to
everyone, while Holland are emerging as one of the major European powers at
this level.
“It is also a boost for the Wales Boys team to have Charlie
available for this international match in Ireland. It shows his commitment to
representing his country.”
