Local rivals poised for battle in PING Mixed Foursomes

The draw has been made for the 2013 PING Mixed Foursomes event, with defending champions Woodlake Park facing a first round encounter with Peterstone Lakes.

Before that, the third and fourth quarters of the draw have two preliminary round fixtures each, to be played before Monday, May 13.

In the third quarter, Mounmouthshire will face Alice Springs with St Mellons awaiting the winners, while Greenmeadow will tee off against Llanwern for the chance to play Radyr in round one.

Already in the first round in the Gwent section are Pontnewydd, who have two teams in the competition. Their first will face a tricky tie with St Pierre, while the second await Newport.

In the fourth quarter, Gower will face Neath’s second team for the right to play Pontardawe’s first, and Langland Bay and St Andrews Major will do battle to decide who will take on Wenvoe Castle’s second team in the first round.

Wenvoe’s first team are already in round one where they will play Glamorganshire, while St Marys will take on Royal Porthcawl.

The first, northern quarter also has some plum ties, with Rhyl facing Holywell and Baron Hill taking on Wrexham.

Denbigh have a bye in to round two, where they will face the winner of the Abersoch second team v Hawarden match.

The second, western quarter sees Ashburnham take on Garnant Park for the right to face Builth Wells, who have a bye in to round two, while at the other end of the quarter, Machynys Peninsula will tee off against Carmarthen, with Penrhos awaiting in round two.

All first round ties are to be completed by Monday, June 3, with each match being played at a neutral venue.
