Quins capitalise to move top

Maesteg Quins capitalised on Seven Sisters' loss to Pencoed in Division Three South West to return to the summit and all but secure promotion with a 28-11 victory over Mumbles at Underhill Park.
Quins ran in three tries through Rhodri Roberts, Andrew Healey and Sean Cleary, while Robbie Morris added two conversions and a penalty, and Gareth Lewis slotted a penalty and a conversion.
All of the seasiders' points came through Andrew Claypole, who touched down and landed two penalties.
Seven Sisters meanwhile slipped to their fifth defeat of the season, going down 27-25 at Pencoed.
The hosts were led to victory by a Glen Hiscocks hat-trick, with Liam Halse also crossing, while Mark Davies added two conversions and a penalty.
It wasn’t a completely fruitless afternoon for Seven Sisters, however, with the Dulais Valley side bagging try and losing bonus points thanks to touchdowns from Steve George, Lee Roberts, Alyn Jones and Anthony Llewellyn, while Lee Smith slotted a conversion and a penalty.
Meanwhile, Bryncoch heaped more woe on basement boys Aberavon Green Stars with a 63-6 demolition.
The Neath outfit helped themselves to eleven tries in all, Craig Thomas grabbed a hat trick with Andrew Spratt, Chris Marvin and Malcolm Williams all getting braces, while a Jonny Bromham touchdown and a penalty try completed the scoresheet for the hosts.
Elsewhere, Taibach kept alive their chances of a top two finish with a 40-10 triumph at Vardre.
The Tigers crossed four times through an Aaron Jones double with Tony Milligan and Rod Morgan also going over, while Mike Sweeney had a fabulous day with the boot firing home four penalties and adding the extras to all tries.
