Leaders Llanishen move seven points clear

Leaders Llanishen moved seven points clear at the summit of Division Three South East thanks to a 23-3 win at Penarth.
The visitors ran in three tries through Dan Coombs, Ben Howie, and Alex Samuels, while Gareth Bailey Jones added a conversion and two penalties.
With four matches left to play, few would bet against Llanishen taking the crown.
Meanwhile, Rhiwbina came away with a win by 31-23 at Aberdare, in a try fest at the Ynys Stadium.

A neat chip ahead by Dave Gilbert led to the opening try for the Squirrels as Richard Saltmarsh collected the ball to run in to score from distance and convert. Hard-working second row John Bickel scored a deserved try for Rhiwbina, before Aberdare’s Craig Smith scored a touchdown in the corner.

Rhiwbina extended their lead as Brett Chatwin danced over to keep his scoring run going. However, the visitors suffered two injuries, including a dangerous facial cut for Saltmarsh, and Aberdare took advantage to run in two tries before half time through John and Anthony Watts, giving the Squirrels a slender one point lead.

Morgan Lewis sliced through to score a fine try after the break for Rhiwbina, converted by Alex Kerr, but Aberdare replied again through a James Daniel try.
The visitors weren’t finished and Chris Fido collected the ball in his own half to beat the defence and score in the corner to secure the win, which keeps the Squirrels hot on the tail of St Peters for the third place spot.

Elsewhere, Brecon narrowly over came highflying Nelson 32-29 in a highly entertaining contest at the Parc, while Dowlais moved up the table with a bonus point 29-24 home win over Gernyfed.
In the day's other fixtures, Pentyrch defeated Tonyrefail 17-11 outscoring their rival two tries to one with touchdowns from Mark Evans and Barry Morris, and finally, St Peters edged past Fairwater 22-17.
