Principality Premiership Weekend Predictions

After my spectacularly poor predictions last week, I’m hoping to do a little better on that front this weekend and with only three Welsh Premiership matches, there is very little room for error!

Aberavon v Cross Keys
The Wizards come in to this match in unprecedented territory, having won three games back to back for the first time this season. Simon King’s men bagged a morale-boosting, narrow win over Ospreylian rivals Neath at the Gnoll last week, with the two neighbours set to clash on Sunday 14th April in the last four of the Swalec Cup. With that in mind, will Aberavon’s focus be fully on their encounter with Keys or will they have one eye on the Cup showdown in a week’s time?
The Keys' discipline once again cost them last weekend and know that results will have to go their way if they are to still make the play-offs. A win here, then, is a must if they are to keep their fading hopes alive.
I think this will be a close match but Aberavon will want to continue their positive run into the Cup semi-finals and with places up for grabs, I see the hosts coming up trumps.
Verdict - Aberavon 3 points

Newport v Carmarthen Quins
Newport go into the match on a high after claiming a Gwent derby win last week and will look to claim a league double over their West Wales visitors. This is a must-win game if the Quins are to remain in the hunt for a play-off place, and they will also look to build some momentum going into next week’s Cup semi-final showdown against Pontypridd.
I think this match could go either way but I’m going to plump with the Black and Ambers.
Verdict - Newport by 5 points

Swansea v Llandovery
The Drovers are not out of the race for the play-offs either, but along with the fact that they have a couple of games in hand over some of their closest teams, they have the trump card of playing a number of clubs in the bottom half of the league, while also hosting play-off rivals Bedwas on the last day of the season.
The All Whites were impressive against Llanelli last weekend picking up bonus points, but ultimately, still came away on the wrong end of the scoreline and will hope to go one better on Saturday as a result.
I think both sides will throw the ball around, and it may be a similar story for Swansea as last week, with Llandovery just pipping them.
Verdict - Llandovery by 5 points
