Free golf taster sessions for Wales

With The Masters currently capturing the imagination of the golfing world, those inspired to try the sport for the first time can do so for free throughout Wales this month.

The New2Golf scheme, run by Golf Development Wales, is running New2Golf Month - with more than 60 clubs registered across Wales offering excellent deals to encourage people to take up golf.

Interested parties in North Wales can enjoy a free taster session, with good deals on further lessons and membership at Clays in Wrexham, or free beginner sessions for women and girls with ongoing deals at Rhuddlan, plus many more.

West Walians can get free taster sessions at clubs such as Ashburnham, Aberdovey, Aberystwyth, Glyn Abbey, Gower, Tenby and many more, while South Wales clubs taking part include Celtic Manor, Tredegar Park, Radyr, Pyle and Kenfig, Maesteg and Langland Bay, among others.

For full details, including a map showing the clubs involved, visit the new Golf Development Wales website (www.golfdevelopmentwales.org) and click on the New2Golf Month button at the top of the page.

“With 60 clubs in Wales taking part in the latest version of a scheme which has seen thousands get the chance to try golf over the last few years, it is easy for anyone to find where to go,” said GDW’s Dan Farmer.

“For example, one club in Wales had more than 50 New2Golf members as a result of this scheme last year, so we know this works well.

“Golf is such a great sport for life and membership of a club offers so many benefits. We are really excited about the potential of this scheme and this is a great time to take up golf in Wales.”
