Simon Prangley put the home side ahead on eight minutes, but
just before the half hour mark Zac Evans levelled things up.
Knowing a victory today would put them in second in the Conference,
moving three points clear of Connah’s Quay and above Llanelli on goal
difference, the visitors would also have been buoyed by a late winner against
Llanelli on the weekend.
But it was Lido who came forward again, with the basement
club scoring the winner through Luke Borrelli on 72 minutes to earn just their
sixth league win of the season.
Their future is still up in the air of course. Even if they
do finish bottom, Llanelli’s expected drop out of the league for financial
reasons would earn them a reprieve.
In the Championship, a bizarre occurrence at Richmond Park
saw the game between Carmarthen Town and Airbus UK Broughton called off – the match
officials failed to show up.
With no reason yet given for the confusion by league
organisers, Airbus will have made the seven-hour-plus round trip for nothing,
something they described as a “farce” in an official statement.
“Someone, somewhere is to blame and we’ll leave it with the
powers that be to find out the circumstances behind the embarrassing situation,”
said their chief operating officer Stewart Roberts.
The clubs are due to meet again this Saturday (April 6), but
this time at Airbus’ The Airfield ground.
In the Welsh League Division One, Monmouth Town and Tata Steel
fought out a 1-1 draw at Chippenham Sports Ground, a result that further dents
Monmouth’s fading title hopes, but is a vital point for Tata in their fight
against relegation.
