Division One West Round-Up

Kidwelly's Steff Evans tests Kenfig Hills defence in their  23-8 victory
With the top two not in action in One West, the attentions turned to the battle for survival at the bottom end of the table where Loughor boosted their survival chances with a 14-6 triumph at fourth placed Waunarlwydd

Andrew Banfield was the hero of the day for the Blues as his try and three penalties brought victory, while two Lee Evans kicks was not enough for Waun to take anything out of this fixture.

The win sees Loughor move out of the drop zone as relegation rivals Skewen went down 20-17 to Carmarthen Athletic.

Athletic crossed twice through Viv Jenkins and Richard Bloomfield, with Scott Maynard adding ten points with the boot as they continued their strong finish to the season.

Skewen did manage three touchdowns through Cam Morris, James Ball and Liam Grice, with Anthony Buseli converting one to secure a losing bonus point, but Skewen know they must start picking up wins if they are to survive the drop.

TRY TIME: A deft kick from Kidwelly's captain Jason Smith saw wing Gareth Rees beet two defenders to cross

Kidwelly won their mid-table battle with Kenfig Hill 23-8, with Kyle Bryan notching a brace of tries, Gareth Rees adding another and Stuart Morris kicking the rest of the points. A Matthew Davies try was all the Mules could muster in reply.

Bottom side Aberavon Quins also went close to what would have been their first win of the season but eventually went down 15-20 at home to Llangennech.

Rod Milsom and Jordan Crealock scored for Quins, with Ryan Pugh adding a conversion and a penalty. Chris Strickler and John Roberts crossed the whitewash for Llangennech, with Steffan Marshall kicking seven points and Ellis Phillips adding another penalty to seal the win.

The day’s other game saw Glynneath pick up their sixth win of the season with a 16-6 triumph at Ammanford.
