RGC1404 didn’t disappoint on their Division One East debut brushing aside Gilfach Goch 42-19, as the North Wales flagbearers notched up a victory ten years in the making.
The WRU-funded side ran in five tries with flanker Tom Parry setting the standard with a brace, while centres Mike Jones and Harri Evans, and winger Richard Hopkins also got themselves on the score sheet.
The dependable boot of accomplished fly half Rhodri Carlton-Jones sent over three conversions and a trio of penalties to make it a day of celebration for the division newcomers.
Head coach and former Wales international, Chris Horsman, was delighted with the way his side performed. “It's a fantastic day for North Wales and I feel very humbled to be the head coach," he said.
"It's not just me though, so many people are involved in it and I feel humbled, really, to be lucky enough to head it up."

"Gilfach are a very good side and their results over the last few years show that no one comes here and wins by that margin of points so we're really, really pleased."
Last season’s Division Two East champions, Ystrad Rhondda, were in devastating form as they kicked off their campaign with a 65-7 drubbing of Tredegar.
The prolific Alex Webber was once again amongst the try scorers, crossing four times, with Dai Gratton bagging a try treble.
Andrew Hutchings, Carl Williams and Carl Facey also crossed the whitewash, but the star of the show was points ace Webber, who added a penalty and six conversions to amass a personal haul of 35 points.
There was a bagful of tries and a host of running rugby on offer in the encounter at the Rec between Rhydyfelin and Rumney, with the hosts triumphing 53-24.
With both sides' defences seemingly still away at pre-season, Rhydyfelin ran in eight tries with Dylan Hughes claiming a hat-trick and Liam Watton bagging a brace, while there were also touchdowns for Gavin Close, Josh Jones and Rhys Godwin.
Rumney’s three tries came courtesy of Luke Fear, Lawrence Facey and Mike Kelly.
It was a deadlock between Ynysybwl and Penallta as the game finished 17-17, with Bwl having the chance to seal the match late on but missed a crucial conversion.
The Pitmen’s Andre Soroko sent over four penalties while Keiron Maloney touched down for the visitors.
Bwl ran in three tries through a Sean Ireland brace and a Lewis Ryan touchdown, while Dale Stuckey added one conversion.
Elsewhere, there was an enthralling clash at Heol-y-Cyw as the home side and visitors, Treorchy, shared a 30-all stalemate.
Both sides scored four tries, the hosts’ coming from Chris Howe (2), Grant Hall, and Gareth Howells.
Finally, Merthyr outscored Mountain Ash four tries to two in a 26-12 victory, with Cameron Gardiner crossing twice for the Ironmen.
