Championship Predictions Week 3

Bridgend Athletic v Beddau
Bridgend Athletic were strong at home last season and will feel they should have won when Bonymaen visited on the opening day. Beddau won their opening match but were outmuscled at Bargoed last week. I think this will be quite an evenly matched contest but I see Athletic notching up their first home win of the season...just!
Verdict - Bridgend Athletic by 3 points
Cardiff Met v Whitland
The students, playing their third home match in a row, will take a lot of confidence into this match after running Bonymaen ragged last weekend, but the Cyncoed hosts will be wary of a wounded Whitland side who have failed to find anything other than first gear so far this season. The Borderers won this fixture last season but I don’t think they'll be leaving the capital with a win tomorrow.
Verdict - Cardiff Met by 10 points
Glamorgan Wanderers v Blackwood
The Wanderers have had a start to forget, leaking 20 tries in just two matches! The hosts will be bolstered by having captain and talisman Alex Luff back in the fold and will also be giving Ianto Griffiths his debut in the hot seat at outside half. Blackwood on the other hand have had a mixed start, winning their opening encounter but were comfortably beaten last week.
Verdict - Glamorgan Wanderers by 5 points
Llanharan v Bonymaen
The Dairymen have made a solid start to the season narrowly losing out to Newbridge in the first week and outclassing Blackwood last time out, and for that, I think they start as favourites tomorrow. For Bonymaen, this will be their third trip in a row and in a cut throat new league where every team is trying to assert themselves, you have to feel for them. This will be a tough trip for the Swansea side.
Verdict - Llanharan by 7 points
Narberth v Newbridge
The first of two mammoth East v West battles tomorrow, Narberth were missing a number of players at Eugene Cross Park and were well and truly sent packing, but the Otters showed glimpses of the form that so nearly secured them the One West title last year. They are definitely a different team at home and I don’t think Newbridge will relish the thought of the long trip West. However, Newbridge have looked good in their opening two matches, although they do sometimes make it hard work for themselves with ill-discipline proving a hindrance at times. All in all, a very intriguing encounter that's tough to judge, but I think West may be best in this battle.
Verdict - Narberth by 3 points
Pontypool v Bargoed
Pontypool are still struggling to find their feet after the knockout blow delivered by the WRU and the High Court in the summer. Perhaps they should have beaten Beddau on the opening day of the season, but were well and truly exposed at Tata Steel last week. You have to feel sorry for Pooler and all the teams the WRU have damaged and held back by adapting rules and changing guidelines ‘for the good of Welsh rugby’. However, there will be only one winner tomorrow.
Verdict - Bargoed by 20 points
Tata Steel v Ebbw Vale
The clash of the day sees last season’s One West title holders pitted against their East counterparts. The hosts have looked to kick on where they left off last year and despite ill discipline letting them down on the opening day, they will most certainly be a difficult team to break down in Margam. The Steelmen have been on fire so far and although they will face a stern test tomorrow, I think they will make it three wins from three.
Verdict - Ebbw Vale by 10 points
