Beddau v Bargoed
Both sides recorded confidence boosting wins last week; Bargoed picked up the double over their rivals last season and I think they will bag another victory tomorrow.
Verdict - Bargoed by 10
Blackwood v Llanharan
Blackwood edged out Cardiff Met last week to kick off the Championship with a win, while Llanharan will feel they could have beaten Newbridge. I think this will be a close encounter but Blackwood with home advantage may just pinch it.
Verdict - Blackwood by 3
Cardiff Met v Bony
Bony will be looking to pick up consecutive wins here and after holding their nerve at Newbridge Fields a week ago, they will be full of confidence to be reacquainted with the students. After struggling last season, Bony seem to be on the right path and I think another victory is on the cards for them.
Verdict - Bonymaen by 7
Ebbw Vale v Narberth
Just how much we can read into Ebbw Vale’s opening day thumping of Glamorgan Wanderers remains to be seen, were they really that good or were Wanderers simply that bad!? One thing's for certain, they will face a much sterner test tomorrow. The Otters, who just missed out on the One West crown last season, will be determined to put a marker down against who many people see as clear title favourites. However, it is thought Ebbw Vale will be too strong at home.
Verdict - Ebbw Vale by 12
Newbridge v Glamorgan Wanderers
Newbridge, led by the prolific Neil Burnett at outside half, will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of this Wanderers side visiting. The Wanderers, who spent much of last season being whipped, are undoubtedly still rebuilding after losing their place in the Premiership two years ago, but this season will for sure be another baptism of fire for the Wands youngsters. A home win is clearly on the cards.
Verdict - Newbridge by 20 points
Tata Steel v Pontypool
Tata Steel will be disappointed with their indiscipline at Narberth last week that saw them go down to 14 men after only 4 minutes, and although they showed flashes of what delivered them to the One West crown last year, they could not compete with the numerical disadvantage. Pontypool on the other hand had the better of their opening game against Beddau but struggled to close out the match. This is a close one to call but I think another home win is likely.
Verdict - Tata Steel by 5
Whitland v Bridgend Athletic
Both sides go into this match on the back of defeats; Whitland were outplayed at Bargoed, whereas Bridgend Athletic saw a last gasp drop goal drift wide as they went down to Bonymaen. The Borderers looked a force to be reckoned with for much of last season but finished weakly. With the weather set to be warm and dry, coupled with the fact both sides like to throw the ball around, I think a high scoring encounter could be on the cards.
Verdict- Whitland by 3
