Wanderers put Llandysul in a spin

Leaders Carmarthen Wanderers had Llandysul all in a spin in Division Two of the South Wales Cricket Association as they comfortably ran out seven wicket winners.
Llandysul batted first but were left in a tizz as spinners Gareth Thomas and Gareth Grant took 4-26 from 12 overs and 3-39 from 13 overs respectively. Ben Edkins was the best with the bat, notching up a half century 54 as his side were dismissed for 149.
The Wanderers hit their target in the 33rd over carding 155-3, with Thomas and Grant once again their go-to men, both finishing unbeaten on 41 and 47 respectively.
The Wanderers now sit 20 points clear at the top after early pacesetters Cowbridge slipped to a losing draw at Bronwydd.
The Carmarthenshire outfit were put in and knocked 200-7 despite being 10-2 at one stage, but a quickefire 80 from just 88 balls by Steffan Jones in an innings that included sixteen 4’s and a useful half century from Nick Hogben, got the hosts back on track. In attack, Tom Warner captured 3-55, while Harry Collier and Ryan Taylor claimed two wickets apiece.
In reply, Cowbridge failed to match the run rate the hosts posted as they ran out of overs on 158-6. Missing their enigmatic captain, Tom Merilaht, they struggled to get the scoreboard ticking over despite opener Sam Wood willow knocking a solid 30, while Taylor chipped in with 28 and Chris Willey top scored with 36.

Meanwhile, Skewen were saved by the rain as they looked to be staring down the barrel of defeat at Aberdare with the contest declared a no differential draw.

Aberdare were put in and made 252-9. Luke Garthwaite top scored on 77, while Geraint Cutlan finished unbeaten on 51. Jamie Lewis was the best with the ball taking 4-47.
Skewen in response were struggling on 127-8 in the 42nd over, when the rain came in and got them out of jail. JS Jones ended undefeated on 40, while Any Rogers chipped in 30. Michael Weathersby was the pick of the bowlers collecting 3-41, while Steve Manning captured 2-26.

Elsewhere, Llanelli got the monkey off their back to clinch their first win of their campaign, defeating basement boys Briton Ferry Steel by 148 runs, Iwan Rees smashing a scintillating 84 for the Scarlets as they posted 214.
Finally, Gorseinon clinched their third win with a great chase at Morriston. The hosts set a target of 223-8, but Gors reached their goal in the 38th over knocking 224-3, thanks to a splendid unbeaten 87 from Josh Simmons, a half century 62 from Chris Morgans and a solid 33 from Luke Evans.
