Weather strikes weekend sport in Wales

THE weekend’s rugby and football in Wales has been decimated by the freezing winter weather.
The only fixture to survive in any of the major leagues was the Principality Premiership rugby clash between Llanelli and Pontypool at Parc y Scarlets.
Almost the entire programme of sport across the country felt the full force of the icy blast with all of the rearranged rugby games in the Swalec Leagues being postponed.
In football, the Welsh League and Huws Gray Alliance so no action with the higher ground in the East being particularly badly hit by frost and snow, while only two matches survived in the Welsh Premier League.
The cancellations will inevitably lead to rearrangements later in the season although this winter hasn’t been as bad as last year when the country suffered a prolonged cold snap leading to heavy fixture congestion towards the end of the campaign.
