Rhiwbina kicked off the celebrations for their 50th Anniversary as a club with a half century of their own on the field, putting the struggling Penarth to the sword 56-7.
The Squirrels dominated the game throughout but the Seasiders showed great heart, never letting their heads drop despite being under a constant barrage of pressure.
Speedster Bret Chatwin led the way for the Squirrels, helping himself to a second half hat-trick, while there were also touchdowns from Josh Madley, Joe Casella, Pat Howell, Dan Murphy, Matt Hall and Josh Davies.
Second row John Bickel also scored a deserved try after an outstanding and hard-working man of the match performance. There was also a notable performance from Matt Lintern, who was a constant danger in attack and set up a number of tries for the hosts. Richard Saltmarsh converted two tries and Josh Davies one.
The travelling fans were given something to cheer about when James Crother produced some nice footwork, crossing for a fine individual try converted by James Docherty.
Meanwhile, Nelson capitalised on Llanishen's postponement to leapfrog them into first place thanks to a 30-21 victory at Gwernyfed.
Elsewhere, the only other match to survive the freezing conditions was Pentyrch’s meeting with Dowlais, with the latter coming out on top 22-10.
