Swalec Cup Quarter-final Predictions

Cross Keys v Cardiff
The Keys have been in a rich vein of form of late. They remain in the fight for silverware on three fronts: sitting third in the Premiership table, with a semi-final against the Cornish Pirates in the British and Irish Cup to come, and the Pandy Park side would surely love to give their supporters another Cup victory to cheer about. The hosts beat Cardiff at the Arms Park way back in September and although Cardiff bagged an impressive win over Llanelli in the last round, I think the seven time Cup winners' run will come to an end.
Verdict-Cross Keys by 8 points
Ebbw Vale v Swansea
The Steelmen will be looking to pick up another Premiership scalp having already seen off Newport and Carmarthen Quins at Eugene Cross Park, and will take heart at Swansea’s struggles at Beddau in the last round. However, Swansea should have their Welsh Under 20 contingent back and I think it will be one scalp too far for the One East leaders.
Verdict- Swansea by 6 points
Neath v Pontypridd
This is clearly the tie of the round with defending Champions Ponty travelling to current Premiership leaders Neath. Last time out, the Welsh All Blacks were given a scare at Bridgend Athletic but their league form has been solid, winning their last five encounters. Ponty meanwhile will be determined to give their faithful supporters something to cheer about after they were awarded a walkover in the last round when struggling Tonmawr were unable to field a team.
Verdict-Neath by 5 points
Newbridge v UWIC
This all Division One affair presents a huge opportunity for one of the sides, with the victor just one step away from the grand final. Newbridge will want to make the most of their home advantage, as they entertain a skilful student side who, after their mid season slump, have rekindled their form. Newbridge, guided by the boot of Neil Burnett, will be a tough nut to crack however.
Verdict-Newbridge 3 points
