Rhiwbina tame the Tyrchs at Cae Delyn

Rhiwbina got back to winning ways against visitors Pentyrch in a free-flowing game at sunny Parc Caedelyn.  Both teams looked to run the ball, but Rhiwbina’s stronger pack secured enough of the possession in the second half to gain a 29-18 bonus point victory.

Man of the match, winger Brett Chatwin, scored two superbly taken tries for the Squirrels, one in each half. The first was silky run-in from 20 metres, and the second a really forceful effort taking three defenders with him to stretch over and score.

Hooker Josh Madley scored after just four minutes, following some great inter-play and a delightful off-load from skipper Nick Howell.  Substitute scrum half Alex Kerr secured the win and a bonus point with a great finish just before full time, after the Squirrels’ pack over turned a Tyrch scrum.

Richard Saltmarsh, who again had a solid performance in the centre, kicked three conversions and a penalty.

The Tyrchs ran the ball from everywhere on the field which made for an entertaining game. Tom Marley and Darren Berry crossed for the Pentyrch tries, both converted by Hywel Chatham, who also kicked a penalty.
