A MARK McGregor equaliser in the seventh minute of injury-time rescued a 1-1 draw for Huws Gray Alliance leaders GAP Connah’s Quay at rivals Buckley Town.
The hosts must have thought they’d done enough to close the gap on their opponents at the top of the table but McGregor struck deep into time added on to break Buckley hearts.
Carl Lamb had given the team in third the lead just after the hour mark but in the end it wasn’t quite enough.
Second-placed Rhyl reduced the deficit on Connah’s Quay thanks to a 4-0 win over Penrhyncoch courtesy of two goals from Dave Forbes and one each for Paul McManus and Rus Courtney.
A Darren Thomas brace and a goal from Iwan Williams helped Porthmadog overcome a spirited Caersws 3-2. Neil Mitchell also struck twice for Caersws.
The surprise of the day came at Flint Town United where the home side were undone by two Ruthin goals in the space of six second-half minutes. Jack Crompton and Craig Papirnyk were on target while Flint had Adam Eden sent off late on.
Conwy United were 4-0 winners away at Penycae, Dean Canning was among the goals with a double, Llangefni and Llanrhaeadr fought out a 2-2 draw and there was a very late finish at Guilsfield.
Ed Baldwin, who had already scored in the hosts’ 4-1 win over Rhos Aelwyd, had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering a broken leg. Danny Barton, with two, and Nathan Leonard got Guilsfield’s other goals.
