Bargoed narrow the gap on leaders Ebbw Vale

Bargoed narrowed the gap on pacemakers Ebbw Vale to three points at the top of Division One East thanks to a 31-3 success over strugglers Tredegar.
The title chasers helped themselves to five tries through Gareth Dove, Rhys Humphries, Mathew Hutcheon and a double from back row Lewis Wayman.
Meanwhile, Gilfach Goch remain in the hunt for a top three finish with a clinical 39-16 win over Treorchy at the Oval.
Gowch crossed the whitewash five times through a James Locke brace, with Nathan Walters, Josh Clarke and Adrian Williams also going over. Ian Davies added the extras to four and also fired home two penalties.
All of the Zebras' points came before the interval with Ryan Evans touching down, while Celyn Ashton added the extras and three penalties.
In a hard-fought encounter, Merthyr narrowly won out 11-10 over Mountain Ash at the Wern.
The Ironmen led at half time through two Lloyd Hynes penalties, while Darren Harris touched down after the break to secure the win. The Old Firm will have to be content with a losing bonus point despite crossing twice through Keiran Olden and Scott Davies.
Rumney increased the gap between themselves and the bottom three with a comfortable 38-17 home success over Glamorgan Wanderers.
The hosts were inspired by an outstanding performance from Danny Clarke, who notched up 23 points through a brace of tries, five conversions and a penalty, while there were also touchdowns from Simon Barry, Mike Kelly and Michael Feneck.
