Wales football
intermediate teams manager Geraint Williams has named his under-21s squad to
face Iceland in next month’s friendly at Llanelli, with seven players uncapped
at that age level included.
Cheltenham’s Connor Roberts, Liverpool goalkeeper Danny
Ward, Scott Tancock of Swansea, Lloyd Isgrove (Southampton), Tom Lawrence (Manchester
United), Bristol City’s Wes Burns and Chris Dawson of Leeds United are the new
faces hoping to make the step up in the game at Llanelli’s Stebonheath Park on
February 6.
Williams will be looking at testing new faces ahead of their
forthcoming Uefa Under-21 Championships in the Czech Republic in 2015. The draw
for qualification takes place IN Switzerland next week, with Wales drawn in the
second strength pot.
Kick-off is at 3pm, with the senior Welsh side taking on
Austria at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium the same evening.
The emphasis in the squad is on players plying their trade
outside of the principality, with Tadcock joined only by club-mates Lee Lucas
and Danny Alfei (on loan at Wrexham) and Wrexham’s Robert Ogleby.
The stand-by list looks more promising for Welsh clubs, with
Swansea, Newport County and Cardiff City all represented.
