Former Wrexham, York and Chester midfielder Levi Mackin and
former Wolves youth striker Gary O’Toole have signed on the dotted line, making
it four in and six out in recent weeks.
Manager Neville Powell said both players showed a real
desire to sign for the club ahead of other suitors, saying: “We can’t spend as
much as some other clubs, but both these lads really wanted to play for Bangor
City.
“One of the first things we look for in a player is that
they have a desire to join this club and these two lads fit the bill. They’ve
come here for the right reasons.
“We do believe the name Bangor City means a lot and the fact
these players chose us over a number of other interested clubs, I think, proves
that.”
Mackin (26) is a
defensive midfielder with both Football League and Conference experience.
O’Toole (25) previously worked with Powell at Connah’s Quay Nomads, and has plenty
of Welsh Premier League pedigree. He won the Huws Gray Alliance Golden Boot
award in both 2011 and 2012, before leaving the Quay last November.
“Levi’s been training with us for a couple of weeks, liked
what he saw, and decided to join us,” added Powell.
“Gary was with me at
Nomads for 18 months after being released by Coventry, so I already know quite
a bit about him. He’s a great addition to the squad; he always works hard for
the team, never stops chasing the ball, and is a proven goalscorer.
“He’d lined up a move to a club in Malta but that didn’t
work out, so we’re delighted to have him on board.”
