In the battle at the top of Division Two East, it was second placed Penallta that came out on top, picking up a 21-15 triumph over leaders Ystrad Rhondda in a close contest at Ystrad Fawr.
The Pitmen outscored their rivals three tries to two thanks to touchdowns from Chris Thomas, Gavin Jones and Rhys Clarke, while Jonathan Wright added the extras to all three conversions
The pacemakers had to be content with a losing bonus point having crossed twice through David Gratton and Andy Hutchings, with Alex Webber adding a conversion and a penalty. Their loss sees their lead cut to five points at the summit.
Meanwhile, Rhydyfelin slipped to fourth in the table, losing 23-20 at Tylorstown with the hosts stealing victory with the last kick of the game, courtesy of a Julian Pike penalty.
Heol y Cyw capitalised on Rhydyfelin’s loss to move up to third with a 27-8 home triumph over fellow promotion hopefuls Ynysybwl.
The Cockerels, inspired by the O’Driscoll brothers, dominated proceedings with captain Adam bagging a brace and hooker Luke also going over, with Rhys Owen rounding off the win in style. Mike Huckridge was on target with a penalty and two conversions.
Llantwit Fadre produced a fine home performance to record their fifth victory, running out 43-18 winners in a hugely entertaining game against Bedlinog at Central Park.
The hosts helped themselves to seven tries as they ignored the sticky conditions to play some exciting expansive rugby. Richard Lovering crossed for a double while Ben Lee, Micahel Walsh, Lewis James, Tony Davies and Ellis Jenkins also went over.
Elsewhere in the battle at the bottom, Abercynon comprehensively downed basement boys Rhymney 29-0.
Cynon were on the front foot from the start and were rewarded with a try bonus point thanks to touchdowns from backrow Chris King, prop Gavin Hole, and scrum-half Gareth Jones, with the hosts also awarded a penalty try. Matthew Turner meanwhile stroked home a penalty and three conversions.
In the day's other fixture, Llantrisant  picked up their seventh win in a 30-23 home success over Fleur de Lys
