Denbigh end champions' Trophy reign

DENBIGH Town sent holders Holywell Town crashing out of this season’s FAW Trophy, booking a quarter-final berth with a 4-0 win.
It was never going to be Holywell’s day after Steve Thomas missed a penalty in the first-half when Denbigh ‘keeper Gareth Roberts brought down Owain Thomas.
Ceri Jones gave the hosts the lead before the break in the all-Welsh Alliance clash then Tom Sharples netted twice in the second-half before Ian Griffiths sealed the win with a fine individual effort.
Three more Alliance sides are through to the last eight, including Llanrwst who overcame Welsh National League side Venture Community 5-2, Pwllheli, 1-0 winners against Brymbo, and Holyhead Hotspurs, who needed extra-time to see off Llanrug United 3-2.
South Wales Senior League outfit Sully Sports caused the shock of the fourth round in the south section. Goals from Alex Long and Gareth Hemmens gave them a 2-1 win against Welsh League division two high-fliers Newport YMCA.
Top scorers of the round were Risca United, 6-3 victors against South Wales Amateur League side Hirwaun Welfare. Ricky Carter bagged a hat-trick for the Cynon Valley team but Brendon Scott went one better with four goals for Risca. Rob Aldridge and Liam Kidman also found the net.
Gwent County first division side Abercarn United were surprise 3-1 winners at home against former Welsh Premier League side Rhayader Town, currently playing in the Spar Mid Wales League. The tie between Ton & Gelli and Swansea Dockers was postponed.
