Otters extend lead in emphatic fashion

Narberth extended their lead at the top of Division One West to five points in emphatic style, thumping Bridgend Athletic 43-5 at the Lewis Lloyd Ground.
The Otters dominated throughout and helped themselves to six tries including a well-taken hat trick for Matthew Davies, with Jonathan Morgan, Steve Martin and wing Nick Jones also touching down. Stuart Morris had a fine day with the boot, slotting five conversions and a penalty.
Bridgend continue to struggle this season meanwhile, and have now failed to produce a victory since the end of October.
In the battle of the highfliers, Tata Steel narrowly edged out rivals Carmarthen Athletic 21-20 at their Margam home.
The Saints were trailing 17-8 at the interval after Athletic crossed twice through Rhys Lewis and Viv Jenkins, with Mike Sauro adding two conversions and a penalty.
The hosts started the brighter after the break and added to Ben Davies' touchdown, with Diggy Bird firing home two penalties to add to his first half effort, before Mike Sauro re-extended Athletic's lead to 20-14. It was a Rhys Tucker try, however, with Bird landing the pressure conversion, that gave the Saints a vital victory.
Llanharan continued their impressive run of results as they defeated Bonymaen 29-17 at the Dairy Field.

The Dairymen’s pack was once again a force to be reckoned with as they crossed the whitewash four times through hooker Nathan Huish, wings Josh Austin and Steffan Jones, and were also awarded a penalty try. Outside half Chris Williams added three conversions and a penalty.

Bony, who after their stellar performance last year continue to look like a shadow of their former selves, were restricted to two tries thanks to a penalty try and a last gasp Joe Millen touchdown.

At the other end of the table, Waunarlwydd ended their three match losing streak, comfortably defeating Ammanford 37-17.
The Green and Blacks ran in four tries through Nicky Harwood and captain Nathan Hart leading the way with a brace of tries, but the game belonged to young outside half Johnny Davies, who produced an outstanding display, crossing the whitewash and amassing 17 points with the boot through four conversions and three penalties.
Ammanford were restricted to two tries through Mike Evans and Wyn Jones in response, with Gareth Morgan landing both conversions and a penalty.
Meanwhile, newcomers Tondu notched up their fourth win, comfortably defeating Llangennech 21-5.
The Waterwheelers got off to a great start and raced to a 16-0 lead at the break thanks to tries through Matthew Phillips and Matthew Davies, and two Paul Smithson penalties. Prop Lloyd Elliott completed the scoring after the interval.
Former leaders Llangennech have rather fallen off the pace in the last few matches and could only manage a solitary try through Gareth Walters.
Elsewhere, Whitland moved up to third in the table courtesy of a 19-9 win at UWIC.
The Borderers took a narrow 3-0 lead into the changing rooms at the break but stepped up their intensity in the second half to go over for the only try of the match thanks to Ryan Michael, with James Stephenson adding the extras and three penalties to his first half strike.
The students meanwhile were restricted to three Rhys Roberts penalties and slipped to sixth in the table.
