Carmarthen Quins 25-13 Cardiff

Centre Alex Pickersgill mounts an attack for the Quins

Carmarthen Quins' scintillating start set them up to secure their fourth win in the Welsh Premiership, running out 25-13 victors against the visiting Cardiff at the Park.
Quins fly half Aled Thomas produced a fine display with the boot, racking up ten points through two penalties and two conversions.
The hosts got off to a flying start touching down twice in the opening ten minutes, wing Rhys Thomas capitalising on some poor defending to ghost over in the corner.
The second try saw Quins flanker Ellis Lloyd crossing the whitewash after the Blue and Blacks were reduced to 14 men when Reuben Tucker was sin binned. Thomas bagged the extras.
With the visitors' heads seemingly still in the dressing room, Carmarthen bagged their third try of the afternoon when wing Jason Harries burrowed over from a close range ruck. Thomas once again slotted the extras to give his side a 19-0 lead.
Cardiff, however, who had come out on top against the Quins a couple of weeks ago, would not lay down and hit back first through Nathan Trevett's short range touchdown, with Gareth Davies slotting the conversion. Davies then landed two further penalties before the interval to reduce the deficit to 19-13.
The Blue and Blacks came out after the interval with much more purpose but failed to turn the pressure into points, with Richard Mustoe and Tom Williams both coming close to scoring.
It was the indiscipline of the visitors' midfield that allowed Thomas to take the sting out of the game as he fired home two penalties to gift his side a 25-13 triumph.
Cardiff Prop Nathan Trevett opened Cardiffs account with a powerful drive to the line.
