The Welsh Under 19 Women play host to Estonia in a double header at the end of this month as Dragons start their build up to the Euro finals next summer.
The two friendly matches will take place at Ynys Park, Ton Pentre on Tuesday 24th July and two days later at the Gen Quip Stadium, Port Talbot, with admission free to both matches.
Seven teams will join hosts Wales next August as they contest the UEFA under 19 Finals, with the matches taking place at Llanelli, Carmarthen, Bridgend and Swansea.
The Women’s Under 19 finals will be the first time a UEFA finals has been held in the Principality and the FAW will be hoping the increased visibility of the game will further strengthen an already expanding band of female players.
The start of the 2011/12 season saw 1250 women and 1500 girls registered as playing football in Wales seeing an increase of 25% from 2009, and FAW technical director Osian Roberts is keen to build, “The tournament will give us a great opportunity to build on the success we have seen at grassroot level with centres of development being set up to ensure the game continues to move in the right direction.”
“Obviously we are immensely proud of hosting this event and it excites and inspires us, and hopefully it will do the same for women and girls involved in the game in Wales.”
