Mold live to fight another year in One North

In the One North promotion-relegation battle, it was Mold that live to fight another day as they defeated Two North runners up COBRA 24-18 at Wrexham.
Mold, who finished second from bottom of One North, had too much for their rivals, running in four touchdowns through Mark Evans, Roger Lloyd, Aled Ellis and Patty Hughes, while Gavin Williams slotted two conversions.
COBRA in response could only manage six penalties from Llew Williams and now must look forward to another year in Two North.
Mold’s Team captain Aled Ellis was quick to praise COBRA’s efforts and thanked both their players and supporters for making it a tough game for Mold, “This was truly the stuff these types of games should all be about, the game was played in an excellent spirit and all credit should go to COBRA.” Ellis also wanted to thank his own players for the “supreme effort they all put in” which should make “each and every player proud of what they achieved today”.

Head coach Les Byrne was equally praising of his young side: “Mold are still firmly where they deserve to be, the lads completely out played COBRA for long periods of the game and showed the intensity levels of the game that we are now capable of playing. We are very much looking forward to next season with our ethos now having become firmly embedded in our play.”
