Lee Williams will
lead the Welsh charge at the Rugby World Sevens in Moscow where they defend the
shock title they picked up four years ago in Dubai.
The Carmarthen Quin, 30, starred during that triumph and
brings a wealth of experience to the squad having appeared in 30 tournament on
the HSBC Sevens World Series.
Pontypridd's Adam Thomas will lead the side which finished
seventh in the IRB World Series last season, while James Davies, younger
brother of Wales and Lions star Jonathan, is also in the squad.
Alex Webber's rapid rise continues with his selection, and
at 21 he is the youngest member of the squad.
Cardiff duo Gareth Davies and Alex Walker have both returned
to Sevens duty having spent time with the Blues last season, while Rhys Jones is
selected having recovered from an injury which kept him out of the last two
legs of the world series.
Llandovery speedster Chris Knight and team-mate Adam Warren
are in the squad, Warren having been part of the Welsh tour to Japan, along
with Llanelli's Craig Price and the Quins' Jason Harries.
Paul John’s side are in Pool E for the tournament, which
runs from June 28-30, alongside Fiji, Tonga and Uruguay. They face the South
Americans first on the 28, before taking on Fiji and Tonga a day later, hoping
to do enough to qualify for the knock-out stages.
