One of Wales’ rugby legends - former British Lion, Wales and Pontypool prop Graham Price - will be attending the annual Presentation Evening of Llanelli District Rugby Union at Pontyates RFC on Friday, June 14.
“Graham has always been a great supporter of grass roots rugby and we didn’t know for definite that he would be able to attend the dinner. He has now confirmed his attendance and we are all delighted,” said Llanelli District chairman Anthony Roberts.
“He (Price) needs no introduction as far as his rugby playing days at the top level are concerned, but he has also made a big contribution to support local rugby. He even played for Laugharne a few seasons ago when I was captain in a fund raising match for the Wales Deaf XV”.
Among the clubs receiving trophies in the dinner will be Llangennech who competed a league and cup ‘double’ in the Carmarthenshire Tyres League, Newcastle Emlyn who won the All Wales Sport Division 1 West trophy and Pontyberem who won the Division 2 trophy, the Morgan Finance Millennium Shield as well as the Doreen Rogers Cup. Kidwelly also feature in the presentation line up after winning the Llanelli Rugby Supporters Club Cup and the Buckley Cup.
“All in all, it promises to be quite a night” added Mr Roberts.
