Quins blow away Taibach to go top

Maesteg Quins maintained their blistering form in Division Three South West to leap to the summit, thanks to a 41-17 victory at Taibach.
Quins crossed the whitewash on five occasions including a brace for Nathan Morgan, with Ryan Lovett, Lee Ronan and Dean Ronan also going over. Gareth Lewis added 16 points with the boot through two penalties and five conversions.
Seven Sisters recovered from their narrow defeat at the hands of Taibach last week to record a try bonus 41-6 victory at Vardre.
The visitors helped themselves to six tries including a hat trick from Anthony Llewellyn, with Kevin Lewis, Ian Watts and Gavin Hooper also going over. Lewis also slotted a penalty and four conversions.
There was nothing to choose between Pencoed and Bryncoch when the sides met at Verlands, with the honours finishing even 23-23.
The hosts’ points came through a brace of tries from Gareth Prentice, with Len Hiscock also crossing the whitewash. Mark Davies added a conversion and two penalties.
Meanwhile, Craig Thomas was Bryncoch’s stand out performer with the centre racking up all his side’s points through a hat-trick of touchdowns and eight points with the boot, by means of two penalties and a conversion.
Elsewhere, Brynamman picked up their fourth win in a tight contest at Underhill Park, defeating Mumbles 13-8, while the other scheduled fixture between Aberavon Green Stars and Ystalyfera was postponed as Stars were unable to field a team.
