Swalec Rugby Division Two West Preview

Glynneath will look to maintain their sublime start to Division Two West when they travel to Builth Wells on Saturday.
“We were very pleased with the result. Felinfoel were pretty confident going into the game but our players laid down a marker the way they want to play this season and really demolished a good side in Felinfoel,” said Press Officer Brian Morgan. “The boys’ fitness was excellent, especially in the heat, with it really personified by second row Mark Seymour’s sprint from half way in the 79th minute to go over in the corner. Looking at Saturday’s match, it’s another trip in the bus, Builth have had an indifferent start but we are expecting a tough game.”
The new boys will be at full strength for the clash.
Skewen notched up their third victory but face a tough challenge when they travel to Cwmllynfell.
“Very pleased by the start the team have made. We had a few long term injuries that have come back to the fore for the start of the season which has given us a boost,” said Coach Richard Ball. “We have a very young side but they’ve made an encouraging start and we will be confident going into the game we can get a result. Although, we are under no illusions, as Cwmllynfell is a tough place to go and they have had a great start.”
Skewen have added to their ranks in recent weeks, recruiting David Edwards, prop David Hughes and Dan Owens from BP Llandarcy.

However, confidence will be high in the Cwmllynfell camp off the back of their record-breaking 149-14 demolition of Maesteg, as they look to notch up another win.
“Obviously it was great to get a record score but we did feel a lot of sympathy for Maesteg. There are lots of clubs struggling at the moment but we hope Maesteg can put some performances together and last the season,” said Club Official Gareth George. “We know the Skewen match will be a different kettle of fish as we have had some tough matches against them in the past, but we’re looking to bag another victory.”
Cwm winger Owen James set a club record in their victory over Maesteg, notching up 41 individual points through seven tries and three conversions.
Aberavon Quins will be looking to build some momentum off the back of their good win at Kidwelly when they host Loughor.
“Very happy with our win last week. We were 22-0 down at one stage but our pre season conditioning work really paid off and we scored five unanswered second half tries in very warm conditions,” said Coach Paul Morgan. “I’ve changed the way the team play and obviously it was going to take some time to gel, but our style and game plan is coming to fruition now. Nonetheless, Loughor are a good team and they’ll be high on confidence, but hopefully we’ll come out on top.”
Quins will still be without second row Darren Gibbs for the clash with Neil Gadd facing a late fitness test on a troublesome back.
Elsewhere, struggling Maesteg host Aberystwyth, Felinfoel entertain Kenfig Hill and Kidwelly travel to Crymych.
