TNS dominate WPL team of the season

Champions TNS’ dominating performance in the Welsh Premier League this term has seen six of their stars selected in the team of the season, with a seventh among the substitutes.

Goalkeeper Paul Harrison, defenders Kai Edwards and Chris Marriott, goalscoring midfield dynamos Ryan Fraughan and Alex Darlington and the prolific Michael Wilde up front have all impressed opposition managers this year, with another midfielder, Aeron Edwards, on the bench.

Surprise package Airbus UK have seen three of their stars selected, while Welsh Cup winners Prestatyn Town’s talisman Andy Parkinson also makes the roster.

Bangor City’s disappointing season is outlined by three of their stars only making the bench, while of last season’s selection, only Marriott and Bala Town’s captain fantastic Mark Jones have kept their place.

Edwards and Bangor ‘keeper Lee Idzi were also in last year’s starting XI and this year claim places among the substitutes.

The team was decided by all WPL managers selecting the players who had impressed them the most in each position over the course of the season, with the tallys totalled up and the 11 with the most votes gaining their reward.
