The event, to be held at 360 Swansea on the weekend of June
29-30, also aims to promote the national Stanno Beach Soccer League and
increase overall awareness of the sport.
They will then return to South Wales to visit Cardiff on the
weekend of August 17-18.
A tournament will be held in Swansea and all local
footballers are encouraged to enter a team. English and Welsh scouts will be in
attendance, with the aim of firstly improving the English squad, but also
setting up a Welsh National Beach Soccer side.
Entering an adult team costs £50, plus £10 per player per
day payable on registration (minimum 10 players). Kids’ teams cost £25 and £5
per child player per day.
It is hoped a local division of the Stanno Beach Soccer
National League can also be set up with enough interest, with the carrot of the
winners and runners up joining their fellow regional champions to compete in
the national finals.
The national winners, as well as receiving the Champions
Cup, will also play in a charity match against the England side and represent
England in the Euro Winners Cup next year.
Local businesses will also be approached to offer
sponsorship of the potential local league and supply Cups and winners’ medals at
the tournament next month.
On the Friday will be the setting up of pitches, marquees,
staging areas etc, and PR including the England team moving around town, and collections
for charities.
The tournament will take place on the Saturday, with the
winners facing the English national side on the Sunday along with children’s
and ladies’ teams playing matches.
